about

The Jazz Diaries are proud to present our first ever label sampler, showcasing tunes from our forthcoming 2021 catalogue. From Detroit to Chicago to Melbourne - these tunes highlight the vast network of artists we are honoured to work with.

Opening the EP is Melbourne outfit Close Counters with a sweltering remix of ‘Rendezvous’ by Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange, taken from ZFEX Vol 2 which we released in April this year. We’re releasing a ZFEX Vol 2 Remix EP next year and this is the first taste of what’s to come.

Next up is ‘OUTERBOUND’ by Detroit native Javonntte who’ll be releasing his Virtual Dreams EP with The Jazz Diaries early in 2021. Virtual Dreams has Javonnttee’s signature house music sensibility but if we had to pick a genre to categorise this EP we would 100% call it Funk. It’s a record that will feel as much at home on the dancefloor as it is in your car stereo.

Hitting the halfway point of the EP is friend, collaborator and audio engineer extraordinaire Anthony Nicholson with a demo dub version of ‘Future Black Fusion’. His forthcoming single on The Jazz Diaries features the original version of ‘Future Black Fusion’ alongside lead track ‘DirtyDiscoJazzFunk’ which, as you can hope, is exactly what is prescribed on the label! Strap yourself in and polish off your dancing shoes.

Following ‘Future Black Fusion’ we are treated to an exclusive release from mystery producer Jerome Dillinja. Unlike the other tunes on the Label Sampler, this one isn’t scheduled for release in 2021 and may only ever be available on this EP... only time will tell.

Finishing on a high note is fusion masterpiece Latin Move by another Detroit luminary Malik Alston. We’ll be releasing an album with Malik in 2021 which has been a dream come true and a project that we hope is a future classic in the making. Malik is an incredible musician, composer and producer with a heart of gold. We really think you’re going to dig his album as much as we do.
